Egg Tart for Baby (8mth+)

Learn how to make easy Egg Tart for baby with this simple recipe. The tart shells are made using sweet potatoes, giving the tart a natural sweetness, hence, no sugar is added in this healthy recipe. These egg tarts are suitable for baby’s breakfast or snack time. They’re easy for baby to hold, healthy and delicious too!

Ingredients:

For the tart shell

  • 100g of mashed sweet potato
  • 20g of flour

For the egg custard

  • 1 egg
  • 100g of milk
  • ½ teaspoon of vanilla essence (optional)

Method :

Steam the sliced sweet potatoes for 20 minutes or until softened. Cool slightly, mashed the sweet potatoes and add in flour. Mix them well to form dough. Divide dough into 10 small balls, press each of them into a tart mould. (Tips : use muffin pans to make bigger egg tart).

For the egg mixture, mix egg and milk well, and then add in vanilla essence. Pour egg mixture in the tart shell gently. Bake in a preheated oven at 180C for 15 – 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Alternatively steam the egg tart for 15 minutes.

Both baked egg tart and steamed egg tart taste equally good, however the baked egg tart has a more crispy texture. Enjoy the egg tarts warm or kept in an airtight container for up to one day.
